Where do we store our emotions…
WHERE OUR BODY STORES EMOTIONS…
Have you ever noticed that when life gets heavy, your body feels it too?
A tight jaw. Raised shoulders. A knot in your stomach. Aching hips. A heavy chest. Restlessness in your legs. Sometimes our bodies communicate what we haven’t yet been able to put into words.
Our emotions and stress can influence how we breathe, move, brace, tense, and hold ourselves. Over time, those patterns can become so familiar that we barely notice them.
That’s why I believe healing isn’t only about asking, “What am I thinking?” Sometimes we also need to ask:
“What is my body trying to tell me?”
Maybe your shoulders need permission to soften.
Maybe your jaw needs to unclench.
Maybe your hips need movement.
Maybe your breath needs more space.
Maybe your whole nervous system needs to hear, “You are safe enough to soften right now.”
Yoga, TRE®, mindful movement, breathwork, rest, and simply becoming more aware of your body can help you reconnect with what you’re feeling instead of constantly pushing it away.
And remember—the body-emotion connections in this graphic aren't a medical diagnosis or a rule about what a particular ache means. Pain and physical symptoms can have many causes. Think of this as an invitation to become curious about yourself.
Listen to your body. Honor your feelings. Move what needs to move. Rest when you need to rest.
Your body isn't just something you live in.
It is part of your story.
Breathe. Move. Feel. Heal. Live Your Life.
Love, Eileen
