THE POWER OF BRIDGE POSE
THE POWER OF BRIDGE POSE
Find strength. Open up. Flow on.
Bridge Pose may look simple, but there is a lot happening when we practice it with awareness and good alignment.
Bridge Pose can help:
STRENGTHEN — Engages the glutes, legs, core, and muscles supporting the back.
OPEN & EXPAND — Gently opens the chest, shoulders, and front of the hips while encouraging better posture.
ENERGIZE — Creates movement through the body and can leave you feeling refreshed and awake.
CALM & BALANCE — When combined with slow, steady breathing, Bridge can also become a grounding and calming practice.
FORM MATTERS!
Keep your feet flat and rooted, about hip-width apart, with your knees tracking forward rather than falling inward or outward. Engage your legs and glutes as you gently lift your hips. Keep the neck long and relaxed, and avoid turning your head while you're in the pose.
You don't need to lift your hips as high as possible. A smaller Bridge with good alignment is more beneficial than forcing your body higher.
Modify or avoid if you have significant neck, back, shoulder, or knee pain, or if you've recently had surgery. If you're pregnant or managing a medical condition, ask your healthcare professional whether Bridge Pose is appropriate for you.
Yoga isn't about making your body fit a pose. It's about learning how to make the pose work for YOUR body.
Small adjustments can create BIG changes.
Breathe. Move. Heal. Live Your Life.
See you in class!
